After having ditched the rain in Washington DC we arrived in Asheville. We didn’t actually want to cut Washington short, but the rain made us do it and now we had caught up on the extra day we “used†in New York City.

In Savanna
We’ve arrived at the coast and are looking at the towns here .. as well as some beach ..
Washington DC
We arrived a day late to Washing DC, from New York City, but found this very nice campground, in the suburbs, where we could park at the Metro station and drive into town. This way our traditional parking challenge was solved.
In Asheville
We’re now in Asheville, where we’ll stay for a short time before heading to the coast. It looks like the hurricane Ike has moved so far to the east that we do not have to be concerned about it and as far as we’ve seen there is not any new warning for this area either.
New York City
New York
In New York we had planned three days of sightseeing and parked at the long term parking at JFK – expecting that it would be the best place to park the van (the van is too high for parking garages and we thought it would be reasonably safe).
In Charlottesville
We have now left New York and while we did get to see some of Washington DC we get cut short by the tropical stom Hanna.
We are now in Charlottesville, VA, at the beginning of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Right now we’re watching the hurricane Ike which is suppose to pass very close to the Florida Keys in the next week or so. We, however, didn’t expect to be there in before almost two weeks.
New England
Boston was our entry to New England and we tried both Lobster Roll and New England clam chowder here at the Quincy Market. Boston is a very nice city with many interesting hotspots – as I said we got the “traditional stuff†at the market. We got the biggest Canneloni ever and an enormous Boston Cream Puff in The North End (or Little Italy) and we got “Nouveau Indian Cuisine†on Newbury Street, the premier shopping street that will make your credit card burn a whole in your pocket crying â€let me out†😉
Arrived in New York City
After two days in Boston and two days in Cape Cod we now have arrived in New York City. Large, noisy and warm. The hotel is funny and Felix loves it – we are just a few blocks from the Empire State Building!
Arrived in Boston
After a long days’ drive we arrived in Boston for another try at City Tourism. Unfortunately Sabine’s foot hurts a bit after walking through Chicago in too fancy shoes, what can you say about that?!!!
We have now driven more than 6000 miles (9600 km) and taken more than 2000 pictures ..
Niagara Falls
We drove over to the Canadian side to see the Niagara Falls. The warnings we had gotten was that it was very commercial, not much to do with nature, not really worth it – and if you want to see it, go to the Canadian side.
Our campground was only half an hour away, so it was an easy drive over. We were there around 10am and it was a bit cloudy and there were not really that many tourists. Sure there were people at the “Maid of the Mist†trip etc, but not more than we would have expected. Sure the falls are basically in the town, but none the less it is amazing!
