Niagara Falls

We drove over to the Canadian side to see the Niagara Falls. The warnings we had gotten was that it was very commercial, not much to do with nature, not really worth it – and if you want to see it, go to the Canadian side.

Our campground was only half an hour away, so it was an easy drive over. We were there around 10am and it was a bit cloudy and there were not really that many tourists. Sure there were people at the “Maid of the Mist” trip etc, but not more than we would have expected. Sure the falls are basically in the town, but none the less it is amazing!

We spent the whole day around here. We took the Maid of the Mist trip (with blue raincoats) to the Horseshoe Fall and we took the elevator down the bottom of it (with yellow raincoats) for the “Journey behind the Falls” tour. In spite of the raincoats we did get somewhat wet – without it we would have been soaked. It is so noisy there that close to so much water, you can barely hear yourself think!

Ok it is touristy – especially if you dare to poke you head up the “fun at the falls” road, but I guess it is your own fault if you do. But both the American and the Horseshoe Falls are also fantastic – and big!
